For people with chronic sleep disorders, a good night’s rest can be impossible to achieve.
The National Sleep Foundation estimates that over 40 million Americans suffer from some kind of sleep disorder.
This video focuses on the prevalence of sleep disorders and what people go through to get treatment.
At a sleep disorder facility, you will be attached to wires that will provide feedback on what your body is doing while you sleep.
A video camera will allow the sleep specialist to coordinate things like heart rate, movement, and brain activity in order to form a thorough diagnosis.
The Zeeba Sleep Center is one of only a few accredited sleep disorder facilities in the Las Vegas area. If you suffer from insomnia, sleep apnea, or many other sleep disorders, then make an appointment by calling (702) 242-1562.
Whether you’re experiencing insomnia, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, or sleep apnea symptoms, a sleep study is a key part of diagnosing and managing a sleep disorder.
Here are some of the things you can expect from your sleep study.
Consultation and Evaluation The first step in a comprehensive sleep study is the consultation, which may have been recommended by your general physician.
At this time, you’ll meet with a doctor or specialist at an accredited sleep center and answer questions about the sleep disruption you’ve been experiencing.
Based on the details you provide about your symptoms and medical history, the sleep specialist will determine which sleep tests would best apply to you and set up a time for you to return to the center for your overnight assessment.
Overnight Sleep Assessment When you return to the center for your overnight assessment, you’ll be set up in a comfortable, private room. While you sleep, your symptoms will be monitored by sleep technicians and compiled into a report.
Depending on the results of this report, a second overnight sleep assessment might be required.
Treatment Plan Based on your overnight sleep assessment, the sleep center will prepare a comprehensive summary of the assessment’s findings and create a customized treatment plan for you.
The treatment plan may include suggestions for sleeping positions, habits, or special equipment, such as a sleep apnea mask.
At this time, the general physician who referred you to the sleep clinic will be notified of your sleep study’s results and recommended treatment plan.
Progress Follow-up After the treatment plan is shared with the patient, the sleep center’s patient core coordination team will continue to monitor the patient’s progress through follow-up appointments.
